Christmas Cooking

Caramel or Dulce de Leche

What you need:
  • 1 can (405g) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 large pot with lid
  • Water
Directions:
  • Place the whole can of condensed milk in a pot.
  • Pour water to cover the whole can. The can should be completely submerged.
  • Bring to boil, cover with lid, lower heat and let it simmer for about 3 hrs.
  • Remove from water and let it cool completely before opening the can. If you can't wait like me, cool it under a running tap.

My family was not that impressed.  We thought it would be good over ice cream, or for dipping apples/wafers.  I think we thought we would open it and it would be a familiar caramel we are used to.

Sausage Balls

Chex Mix

Mary made this. The recipe is on the
back of the cereal box.
Homemade is so much better than store bought.

This is a candy our mother made for us at Christmas time.  It is tricky to make, you will need a candy thermometer.

  1. You need to put the recipes up. Maybe I can make that toffee with the gluten free cardboard, um, I mean crackers. And what about the sausage balls? I get asked for this recipe all the time so your friends might want it.
